Wednesday afternoon IST, with users
getting a 502 error. Google Play Store
users were experiencing the same
error as well.
Update: At 1:34 PM, both services
are back up for us. If you are still
experiencing trouble, please let us
know via the comments with your
location.
Google's Apps Status Dashboard listed
the service as disrupted, with details
mentioning that the outage started
around 12:32 PM IST on Wednesday.
"We're investigating reports of an
issue with Gmail. We will provide
more information shortly," Google
said.
However, by 1:13 PM, IST Google was
saying it had fixed the services, with
the update reading, "The problem with
Gmail should be resolved. We
apologize for the inconvenience and
thank you for your patience and
continued support. Please rest assured
that system reliability is a top priority
at Google, and we are making
continuous improvements to make our
systems better."
Google acknowledge that users were
experiencing 502 errors and latency
when accessing email, but did not
reveal the extent of the outage.
Even though Google claimed to have
fixed the problem, we were still
getting a 502 error while trying to
access Gmail at the time of filing this
report (1:22 PM IST).
